The State Attorney recognizes that in some instances alternative sanctions may offer the best resolution to a case by providing rehabilitative services that can address issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health needs.
State Attorney’s Office input and victim approval is required for program acceptance, along with paying restitution, if applicable. This approach attempts to make the victim whole, keeps the community safe, and often helps prevent future criminal activity by the offender.
